These Terms govern your use of Knowel ("the Service") operated by Bowen Strategy Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company no. 16897561), with registered office in Dartford, Kent, United Kingdom ("we", "us"). By signing up or using the Service, you agree to these Terms.
Knowel is a software-as-a-service product that lets you build AI chatbots trained on your own documents, and embed them on your website. The Service includes the Knowel dashboard, AI processing via third-party providers, file storage, and an embeddable widget.
You must provide accurate information when creating an account and keep your password secure. You are responsible for activity that happens under your account. You must verify your email address before signing in.
You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service. By signing up, you confirm you are.
New accounts receive a 14-day free trial. No card is required to start. At the end of the trial, you may subscribe to a paid plan via Stripe; if you do not, the Service will refuse new chat requests until you subscribe. We may modify or end the free trial at any time, with reasonable notice.
Paid subscriptions are billed monthly in advance via Stripe. Prices are displayed on the pricing page and include any applicable UK taxes. We may change pricing with at least 30 days' notice; existing subscriptions are honoured at the old price until the next renewal.
Each paid plan includes a monthly conversation allowance (2,000 on Standard, 10,000 on Pro), shown in your dashboard. If you reach your allowance, your assistant pauses answering until your next billing period or until you upgrade. We'll always try to contact you before this affects you. We may also limit usage that is automated, abusive, or resold to third parties.

You retain all intellectual property rights in content you upload to Knowel (documents, URLs, configurations) and in conversations between your chatbots and your visitors ("Customer Content"). You grant us a limited licence to process this content solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you.
You represent and warrant that you own or have permission to use any content you upload, and that nothing you upload violates third-party rights, defamation laws, or applicable law.
You must not use the Service to:
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules, with or without notice.
Knowel uses third-party AI models (currently from Anthropic and Voyage AI) to generate responses. AI outputs may occasionally be inaccurate, incomplete, or unexpected. You are responsible for reviewing AI outputs before relying on them, and for setting appropriate boundaries on what your chatbot says (via the system prompt). We make no representations or warranties about the accuracy of AI-generated content.
We aim for high availability but do not guarantee 100% uptime. We may take the Service offline for maintenance with reasonable notice. We are not liable for downtime, performance issues, or data loss except where caused by our gross negligence.
You may cancel your subscription at any time from the billing page. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; your data remains accessible until then. You can delete your account immediately at any time from account settings, which will permanently delete all your data and end your subscription.
We may terminate or suspend your account for violation of these Terms or non-payment. We will give you at least 14 days' notice except in cases of egregious violation.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for any claim arising from or related to the Service is limited to the amount you have paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, revenue, data, or business opportunities.
Nothing in these Terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for any other liability that cannot be limited by UK law.
You agree to indemnify us against any claim brought against us as a result of your use of the Service in violation of these Terms or applicable law, or arising from content you upload.
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will be resolved in the courts of England and Wales.
We may update these Terms. Material changes will be notified to active customers by email at least 30 days before they take effect. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance.
